Both original and alternative sets are suitable for your unit; the most important is choosing the right filter classes.
Recommended Filter Combination: F7 + M5 (F7/ePM1 + M5/ePM10)
The recommended filter combination for ENERVENT ALTA (whether original or alternative) is:
- Supply air: F7 / ePM1
- Exhaust air: M5 / ePM10
This combination offers an ideal balance between indoor air quality, pressure drop and energy consumption. F7 on the supply side efficiently removes fine dust, pollen and many allergens, while M5 on the exhaust side protects the heat exchanger and fan.
You can order the alternative ENERVENT ALTA filter set here:
ENERVENT ALTA alternative filter set (F7 + M5)
Alternative M5 + M5 Filter Set (M5/ePM10 + M5/ePM10)
- Supply air: M5 / ePM10
- Exhaust air: M5 / ePM10
This alternative M5 + M5 filter set for ENERVENT ALTA provides lower pressure drop, which means lower energy consumption and quieter operation.
It is suitable for locations with relatively clean outdoor air, where maximum fine filtration is not required.
Please note that more dust can enter the unit and indoor air compared to F7 supply filters.

FAQ – ENERVENT ALTA Filters
How often should I change filters in my ENERVENT ALTA?
In normal conditions, filters should be replaced every 6–12 months.
In dusty or high-pollution areas, or if you have pets or allergies, we recommend checking and possibly replacing them more frequently.
Visually inspect the filters at least every 3–4 months.
Are alternative filters safe for my ENERVENT ALTA?
Yes, as long as they are high-quality and made to the correct size and filter class (F7 / M5 / ePM classes).
Our alternative filters for ENERVENT ALTA are designed as precise replacements for the originals and match or exceed their filtration performance.
Both original and alternative sets are suitable; the key is using the recommended F7 + M5 combination where possible.
What is the difference between F7 and M5 filters?
F7 (ePM1) filters very fine particles such as fine dust, smoke and many allergens, providing higher indoor air quality.
M5 (ePM10) stops coarser dust and larger particles and is sufficient in cleaner environments.
For most users, F7 on the supply air side is recommended.
When should I use a carbon filter?
Use an F7 carbon filter on the supply air side if you want to reduce:
- Traffic, industrial or city odours
- Cooking smells and tobacco smoke from outside
- VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from outdoor air or nearby sources
Do dirty filters increase energy consumption?
Yes. Clogged or very dirty filters cause higher pressure drop, so the fans must work harder and consume more electricity.
Regular filter replacement keeps your ENERVENT ALTA efficient, quiet and reliable, while maintaining high indoor air quality.
